- Harold Godwinson defeats Harald Hardrada at Stamford bridge.
- When Harold arrives in Hastings with an army of tired foot soldiers, he finds William's army already there. Harold then orders his men to make a shield wall.
- The Normans can't break the shield wall so they pretend to retreat and run back down the hill. Some of the Saxon men chase the Normans down the hill but the shield wall is still strong.
- William's men then turn around and attack the Saxons run after them. The Normans do this again and more Saxon men leave the wall.
- The Norman's cavalry charges at the shield wall and it breaks. The archers then fire the last of their arrows to pick of the last few Saxons
- Harold is hit in the eye by an arrow and his body is hacked to pieces by the Normans. William wins the battle of Hastings and is crowned king of England on Christmas day the same year.
