- Starr is usually not invited to parties and her friend kenya invited her to one . Later on she finds out that kenya just invited her for back up so when she picks a fight .

- a shooting came out during the party and she was offered a ride home with a childhood friend Khalil. Once they got away from the shooting they stop the car because they got pulled over. The cop had asked Khalil to step out of the car and put his hand on the car and Khalil didn't listen and went to grab a brush. The cop thought that the brush was a gun so he had shot Khalil.

- Starrs uncle Carlos is also a cop. He had stopped by to talk to the parents of Starr about why Starr should go to the police station and tell them what happened.
