The Raven

- The Speaker was almost asleep when he was suddenly woken up by the sound of tapping at his chamber door. He got up and went downstairs to see the noise coming from his chamber door.
- "While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping"
- The speaker angrily went to see what the noise was and when he saw the raven he started to fuss at the bird for waking him up and expected the bird to respond to him.
- "But the fact that I was napping, and so gently you came rapping, tapping at my chamber door."
- The raven changed the speaker's face from sad scorn to a smile by the look of the bird-like the bird reassuring him that his wife is still with him. That is when the bird said nevermore.
- "Nevermore."
- The speaker is in tears while yelling his wife's name that had recently passed away. Because he is overwhelmed by the fact that he sees his wives spirit and is confused and is still recovering over her death.
- " Lenore! , Lenore..!"
- The speaker is getting upset with the bird because he is scared and threatened by the bird because he thinks the raven is an evil spirit or the devil so he is telling it to get out.
- "GO AWAY DEVIL"
- The raven is perched on top of the speaker's chamber door and there is a light shining on the bird and has a shadow on the floor and the raven did not leave when the speaker told him to.
