- I wouldn't step in that house for anything and you shouldn't either.
- Kit convinced Mr. Kimberly to give Kit and Mercy's school another chance. She said that Hannah gave her the courage. Aunt Rachel told her to stay away from Hannah because she was a Quaker. Kit said she couldn't promise that.
- Kit was walking in the meadow with Judith and decided to stop by Hannah's house. She asked if Judith wanted to come, but Judith didn't. Kit knew Judith wouldn't give her away because the bond was to strong.
- Oh wow! a schoolmistress.
- When Kit went inside, Hannah was making thread. She spun it even better than Mercy. Kit told her about school and they talked. Kit asked her about being a Quaker.
- I'm glad you found Hannah. Take care of her for me.
- Kit saw Nat Eaton leaning in the doorway. Hannah told them that her only two friends were both found crying and running away. They talked for a while.
- Nat asked how life in Wethersfield was and Kit told him he was a school teacher. Nat mocked her.
- Nat told Kit that he was glad he was glad she found Hannah. He said that Hannah needed her and to take care of her.
