In this savannah, there are multiple variations among the two mouse breeds living there. One breed is light brown, and the other is white. The light brown breed is harder to see, than the white breed, because it is smaller and matches the color of it's environment.
Since the light brown mice are small and hard to see, they are harder to be caught by predators. The white rabbits do not blend in, so they are seen easier. They are also big, slow, and are fatter than the light brown ones.
One day, a new animal was introduced to the savannah. This animal was a predator, and it was a hyena. This caused chaos among the mice, and caused them all to flee from the hyena, since the mice were all very alarmed by the new predator.
Most of the white mice got eaten since they were fatter and more appetizing to the hyena. They also were slower, and easier to be seen, so the fox could catch them easily. The light brown mice were the exact opposite of the white ones, so they survived.
Since the light brown mice survived better, there were more of them alive. Those mice reproduced and became more common since they passed down their genes to their offspring, creating more better adapted, light brown mice, than white ones.
Eventually, only the light brown mice survived in the savannah since they were the best adapted to the environment. The white ones were caught by the hyena. Now, the good traits are passed down from the light brown mice, to their offspring, showing natural selection.
