- Hey John! Have you voted yet? It's Election Day!
- Vote? Last I thought, colored people couldn't vote.
- Not anymore. President Grant passed the 15th amendment, so you can't be denied the right to vote if its based on your skin color or race.
- Well this is news to me! Can you take me to the polls?
- Of course, J.
- So when did this come to be? And why?
- President Grant stood with Lincoln's morals and just realized his ideas into law.
- You betcha! Go ahead and cast your vote. I'll be waiting outside.
- So this is it?
- Man, oh man. Who do I really want to choose?
- Pretty easy right? How was it?
- It was great! It was my first time voting, but I had a real hard time picking who wanted to vote for.
- I think you should vote more in the future. You have a voice as a citizen and it makes no sense to not express your voice in a country where the people are the rulers.
- Noted. I'll definitely mark Election Day on my calendars from now on!
- Don't mention it, J. I'm just glad I was able to spread the word about the election and help somebody use their voice in our government!
