A mysterious crystal shard falls from the sky landing in the land of Icewind Dale. A young wizard finds the crystal, which grants him great power. It is here we meet our villain, Akar Kessel. Meanwhile, our hero, Drizzt Do'Urden, a drow, spies a group of barbarians coming to raid Ten Towns in Icewind dale and concocts a plan to stop them.
Rising Action 1
The barbarians attack while Kessel builds his forces. Drizzt and his friends manage to stop the barbarian invasion, but Drizzt isn't recognized as a hero due to his heritage as a "dark elf." His dwarf friend, Bruenor, takes in one of the barbarians and raises him to be good.
Yer gunna work with me and me kin 'fer five years 'til I know I can trust 'ye!
Rising Action 2
Drizzt trains the young barbarian, Wulfgar, proper fighting methods by Bruenor's request. In the meantime, Kessel starts gathering troops, including a demon, to attack Ten Towns so he can rule Icewind Dale.
Rising Action 3
Kessel screws up and sends in troops as part of his plan to rule Ten Towns. The troops (a bunch of giants) get bored and kill a bunch of Bruenor's men. Drizzt and Wulfgar find the men, slay the giants, and learn of Kessel's plan.
Climax
Drizzt and friends attack Kessel's tower. Drizzt ends up victorious but the fight causes an avalanche killing Kessel. The magical crystal gets buried in the snow, now lost forever. I believe this is the climax because this marks the end of Kessel and the main trouble of the whole story. With this, the conflict of man vs. man is resolved.
Now you shall no longer threaten the people of Icewind Dale!
Bruenor fakes a serious injury in the battle and tricks Drizzt to come with him on an adventure to find Bruenor's ancestral home. Drizzt reluctantly agrees, but is mad at the dwarf.
Falling Action/Resolution
