- In chapter 1 Ponyboy is walking home from the movies when the Socs come up to him. When they all start to crowd him, he knows that he's about to get jumped. One of the socs says "We're going to do you a favor greaser. We're gonna cut all that hair off." As they pull out a knife the jump starts.
- At the very begging of chapter 2, Ponyboy and Johhny were waiting for Dally to go to the movies. While they were waiting a fight just broke out between a greaser and a Mexican hitchhiker. As soon as a switchblade got brought out the boys were gone so that they didn't have to get involved with the police.
- Also in chapter 2 starting on page 31, Ponyboy took the story back to around 4 months ago when the socs jumped Johnny. Ponyboy, Steve, and Soda were walking to the DX station when Steve saw a jacket and noticed it was Johhnys jacket. All 3 of them ran over to the guy laying on the ground. When Soda rolled him over it was sickening to see just what the Socs have done. Johnny's face had all cuts and bruises and his face was swollen. He had a wide cut on his face from his temple to his cheekbone. He lay there with his shirt just splattered with his blood..
- Right at the begging of chapter 4 when Johhny and Ponyboy were standing near the fountain when 5 socs came up to them. As they started talking to each other a soc looks at Ponyboy and says "You could use a bath greaser. And a good working over. And we've got all night to do it. Give the kid a bath David." The next thing you know the socs are drowning Ponyboy in the fountain. Ponyboy was free but soon realized that Johhny has just killed Bob, one of the socs.
- Chapter 9 starts off with Ponyboy at home and everyone getting ready for the big fight. The fight is between the greasers and the Socs. When the greasers get to the spot, they meet Tim Shepherd and his gang (how are much more organized gang than just some friends that stick together.) They are gonna help fight the socs but Pony is a little nervous because Tim Shepherds gang usually fights with anything they can find, but this is a skin fight. The Socs show up and Pual from the Socs side took the first swing on Darry. The fight has started after awhile the Socs ran away. The Greasers have won!
- In chapter 10 the sad news of johhny's death has hit everyone hard but has gotten to Dally the most. When Dally finds out that Johhny has died he had a mental breakdown. While everyone is at home grieving they get a call from Dally saying that he just robbed a grocery store and he needs them to pick him up at the lot. When the group gets there they see Dally running from the Police. The Police stop and get out of their car, Dally points a gun at the police and the police do what Dally wants them to do. They shot him. There on the ground was the cold still body of Dally.
