The Fredonian Rebellion was the first attempt by Anglo settlers in Texas to secede from Mexico. The settlers, led by Empresario Haden Edwards, declared independence from Mexican Texas and created the Republic of Fredonia near Nacogdoches.
Law April 6, 1830
John Quincy Adams sent Joel R. Poinsett to Mexico to offer $5 million for part or all of Texas.Mexican officials were offended by the offer.This offer only confirmed to the Mexican officials that the Texas Anglos want to take Texas away from Mexico.
Anahuac Conflicts
Gen. Manuel Meir y Teran was sent to Texas to investigate the tensions in Texas after the Fredonian Rebellion.In his report he noted three things, then that led to the Law of April 6, 1830.

They supported the Constitution of 1824They were still loyal to Mexico They supported Santa Anna as president
The Law April 6th got rid of:Banned SlaveryOutlawed immgration of the U.S.custom duties
Anahuac was the place were they would collect custom duties on imported goods,The Anahuac Disturbances were upsetting the settlers in and around Anahuac.

The conflict at Anahuac caused,The texans to write a formal statement called the Turtle Bayou Resolutions.When they wrote the resolutions they listed three things.
