- The tributes are being picked for the 75th Annual Hunger Games; The 3rd Quarter Quell. Katniss gets picked because she is the only girl eligible. There are two men so when Haymitch get's picked Peeta immediately volunteers as tribute.

- Peeta, Katniss, and Haymitch arrive at the capital to begin training for the quarter quell.
- Haymitch tells Katniss that people want to be allies with her but she already has people in mind and doesn't feel like trusting anyone else.

- Katniss is about to enter the games when her designer and friend Cinna is getting killed by the peace keepers working for President Snow in the Capital to make Katniss upset to not perform well in the games.
