- In approximately 2000 BCE, Gilgamesh ruled over Uruk, a city with a desert terrain in southern Mesopotamia. However, when ruling, the Mesopotamian gods created a hairy friend -- Enkidu -- to keep him accompanied and occupied.

- After killing a divine bull, which was committing a sin, Gilgamesh and Enkidu were punished, with Enkidu passing away. However, Gilgamesh waited next to him for a week, not ready to accept that he was dead. After, however, Gilgamesh became much more lonely, started fearing the chance of himself passing away.

- With the fear of passing away, Ruler Gilgamesh goes on a journey over the seas and rivers with the help of Urshanabi (Sursunabu). This adventure helped Gilgamesh meet Utnapishtim, a survivor of the great flood. Gilgamesh asks Utnapishtim for the secret to immortality, but after Utnapishtim explains he does not have the secret, Gilgamesh returns back to Uruk.
