- The Citric what? I know you love oranges, but not everything is about citrus you know.
- Have you heard of Kreb's Cycle?
- So how many steps are in the Krebs Cycle then?
- Oranges? I do love oranges... but no, that's not why it's called the Citric Acid Cycle. In the first step, citrate is produced. You did know that, didn't you?
- Uhh, of course I knew that!
- There are 8. It's the process by which pyruvate is converted into NADH. Plus it produces some ATP and FADH2.
- Steps? In Kreb's Cycle?
- Go on...
- Um, not exactly. It's one of the steps in cellular respiration. The process that converts sugars into useful chemical energy.
- You seem confused... do you know what process the Krebs Cycle is part of?
- Process? Well, I suppose it's a business process...
- Yes. There's a combination of condensation, hydration, oxidative decarboxylation, substrate-level phosphorylation and dehydrogenation.
- Well, it is fairly complex. Did you know each step of the Kreb's Cycle uses a different enzyme? The enzymes are what catalyze each of the reactions that take place.
- Chemical energy? I really didn't think Kreb's Cycle was so complicated.
- Reactions?
