- Bud is an orphan during the great depression. I think it would be tough to be an orphan this time. also because his mother died.

- Bud has a friend named Jerry in the home Jerry is going to get adopted by a family with two girls and Bud is going to get adopted by the Amos Family. I think Bud would be upset to lose his friend.

- Bud gets adopted by the Amos family. They have a son named Todd and he is very mean to Bud. I feel bad for him because the Amos family believes everything Tood says.
- Todd's parents did not believe Bud. Mrs.Amos believes everything Todd says. Todd said Bud hurt him so they put Bud in the shed. I feel bad for Bud because he thought the Amos family would be a nice family but he was treated horrible.
- Bud escaped the shed by getting threw the window. He gets away from from the hornets nest and leaves the Amos family house before he leaves he pours water on Todd. I think Bud should go find his father right after he escaped the shed.
- Bud goes to the library and gets a book about war world 2. He loves it but it wasted his time to meet his father. I think Bud should have not read the entire book and left earlier to save time to find his dad and read the book during the walk.
- Bud and his friend Bugs goes to a place named Hooverville and Bud meets a girl named Dez. Bud and Deza kiss then the police takedown Hooverville. Bugs and Bud try to make it on the train but Bud can't catch up and Bugs leaves. I Feel Bad for Bud because he loses Bugs and now he has to find his father
- Bud is walking to Grand Rapids through Owosso. Bud got lucky, he meets Lefty Lewis a nice man who offers Bud a ride. I think its nice that Lefty Lewis offered Bud a ride and that he would just help him.
- Bud takes Lefty Lewis's car because he saw blood in the back seat and thought he was a vampire. I think Bud was silly for thinking Lefty was a Vampire.
- Bud shouted his mother's name at Hermon. Hermon was angry and shut his mouth after that. Bud found out Hermon was his grandfather. I think Bud shouting at him was not necessary.

- Lefty takes Bud to eat with his family before he takes him to Grand Rapids to meet his father. Lefty is showing kindness to Bud.
- Bud tried to get his dad's attention. He went on stage to see Herman. He was shocked he was old. Tho, he still believed he was his father. I think Bud showed courage by doing that.
- Bud sees Herman crying then puts the rocks and picture of his mother in his room. Bud finally received a saxophone from the band. He finally finds his grandfather. Bud's life was hard. In the end, he finds his true identity alone I his momma's room.
