Susan B. Anthony was born into a family of Quakers on Febuary 15, 1820. They believed in the equality of men and women and supported the abolition of slavery and temperance. When she attended a temperance rally and she wanted to speak but she could not because she was a woman. This inspired her to create the Women's State Temperance Society of New York in 1852

Susan B. Anthony meet Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1851. Elizabeth was a leader of the Women's right movement and her and Susan became good freinds and co-workers. Soon after Susan joined Elizabeth and became a leader of the movement. In 1869 Susan and Elizabeth created the Nation Woman Sufferage Association. They worked for a women's sufferage amendment to be added to the constituition.

In 1852, Susan B. Anthony voted illegally in the presidential election. She was arrested and fined. She never paid the fine and no further action was taken against her. Susan kept persuing her work for womens sufferage but she sadly died in 1906, 14 years before the 19th amendment was passed which gave women the right to vote.
