- Today we are going to learn about Omar Khayyam. He was born on May 18 in the trading city of Nishapur then known as Iran in the year 1048 until today. He then received education in science, philosophy and mathematics. He traveled to Nishapur, the city of Samarkand which is now in Uzbekistan. There, his interest in mathematics grew by writing treatises on arithmetic, algebra, and music theory. He had invented a geometrical method of solving cubic equations by connecting a parabola with a circle. In addition, he was a Persian astronomer, writer, poet and mathematician known in Iran for his scientific achievements.

- The Uzbek philosopher Abu Ali al-Husayn ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Sina blended Islamic theology with Neoplatonism and Aristotelianism, and he was born around 980. His areas of study were Greek philosophy, Islam, medicine, and Aristotelianism. In Iran, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, Ibn Sina worked as a political advisor, court physician, and administrator. Al-Qanun fi al-Tibb and Kitab al-Shifa are two of his most important works. He's credited with almost 200 works.
