The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a tragedy. People wanted to write about it but, they couldn't have guessed what the people inside were saying and thinking unless those people got out of the building. So, they resorted to historical fiction to express what they thought happened in the factory. The story we read is about a girl named Yetta who worked at the factory. This is something that was made up about the story, Yetta is a fictional character. Other things that were changed about the story are the dialogue and the inner thoughts of the characters. These were changed because you can't know what someone is thinking unless they tell you.
We need to get out of here!
Things that the Author left the same while writing this story are the fire, the safety facts about the building including the narrow stairway, only having three fire buckets, and the hose not being connected to a water source. The author kept these facts the same because they were relevant to the element of danger and the true story.
(Yetta)
I belive the theme of this story was how it is better to be safe than sorry. Why do I think this? The building wasn't safe, and the people inside were sorry.
