"Oh god, Master of the Universe, give me the strength never to do what the rabbi's son has done." (Wiesel 91)
Man Vs society
"Bring a crate!" (Wiesel 57) Elie was wandering around and saw Idek sleeping with a young polish girl and he whipped him for that. This is an example of MVM because there is someone fighting/hitting him.
Man Vs god
"Blessed be God's name?" But Why should I bless him?" (Wiesel 67)
When Elie realizes what the rabbi's son has done to his father, he prays to God to not do what the rabbi's son did to him. This is an example of MVS because he is have a problem with himself.
Man Vs nature
"The next day, German troops invaded our town" (Wiesel 9). When the german troops enter their town, they knew something was not right. The reason I say this is MVS is because Elie had to face with the german army.
When Elie is "celebrating" Rosh Hashanah, people are blessing god's name. But Elie is not because he thinks to himself: "Why do we bless God? What has he done to help us?" The reason I say this is MVG is that is douting himself that God is not doing anything to help them at all.
"The SS shoved us inside, 100 per cart: we were so skinny!" (Wiesel 97). So the first time when they were loaded into the cattle carts, they could only do 80 per cart. But since they have been in the camps for a long time, they are very skinny and they could for 20 more people into the carts. The reason I say this is MVN is that they were in cattle carts with no roof, so they had to endure the elements of nature.
