- TIANA: hello everyone and welcome to tech talk. I’m your host Tianna Morris and today we will be answering your questions on cybercrimes and some of the things that can harm our software and computers. Here to inform us about it is the CEO of Techtogram, Vin-Asha Simmonds.
- VIN-ASHA: hello Tiana, thanks for having me
- VIN-ASHA: well Tianna, A computer virus is a type of computer program that, when executed, replicates itself by modifying other computer programs and inserting its own code. If this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be infected with a computer virus, a metaphor derived from biological viruses.
- TIANNA: so Vin-Asha first thing first. Many people may not know what is a computer virus is. Do you care to explain?
- TIANNA: ok Miss Simmonds thank you for that. So is there any other malware that can harm your computer other than a virus?
- TIANNA: oh ok. We now turn to the audience for their questions.
- VIN-ASHA: oh yes, you also have computer worms and trojan horse.
- VIN-ASHA: well a computer worm is a type of malware that spreads copies of itself from computer to computer. A worm can replicate itself without any human interaction, and it does not need to attach itself to a software program in order to cause damage. Its primary function is to self-replicate and infect other computers while remaining active on infected systems
- ALLIA: good morning, Allia Marshall here from CVJ news, you mentioned computer worms...what is that?
- TIANNA: interesting, anyone else has something to ask?
- ROSHAWNA: yes, Roshawna Lewis from TVM news here, you also mentioned something about the Trojan Horse. Could you please explain that?
- VINASHA: A trojan horse is a computer virus that looks legitimate and conceals its true content to fool a user into thinking it's harmless but can take control of your computer.
