The Hobbit Chapter 1

- First, we meet Bilbo Baggins. He is a hobbit; hobbits do scheduled things every day and are not adventurous. Although he has no magic, because of his size and speed, humans cannot see him, almost like he is invisible. He also can hear far away because he has big ears.
- A little while later, an elderly man came knocking on his door. Little did he know, it was the old wizard that used to tell him stories. He tells Bilbo his name is Gandalf and then Bilbo remembers him. Also, he is tricky and in charge.
- Next, Gandalf marks Bilbo’s door saying that he wants to be in on an adventure, but Bilbo doesn’t know that, and he actually doesn’t want to. But, Gandalf thinks that he’ll be perfect for the job and marks him as the burglar to steal the treasure from Smaug (the dragon that stole everything the dwarves had). The mark is also showing that Bilbo is telling the dwarves to come and depart for their adventure.
- Then, all of the dwarves come and Gandalf strikes his staff to get everybody’s attention, but Bilbo thinks he’s getting struck by lightning; he is freaking out. While freaking out and going crazy, he hides under a table while Gandalf explains the plan to take back the treasure.
- The dwarves don’t think that Bilbo should go on the adventure because he is not adventurous or mighty. But, Gandalf explains to everyone why there should be 14 people going on the adventure. The reason is that 13 is an unlucky number.
- Thorin tells all the guests about how Smaug stole everything they had and killed almost everyone and everything. This is the reason why they must go on an adventure.
