Brian Robeson was on a plane going to visit his father in Canada when the pilot had a heart attack and died.
The plane crashed into a lake and Brian passed out on the shore after swimming out of the lake. The plane swnkshortly after the wreck.
Before Brian's flight, his mother had given him a hatchet for the trip. Brian went through many struggles in the wilderness and the hatchet helped him to survive. Using the hatchet, he made a fire, a shelter, and weapons.
One night as Brian was sleeping, there was a tornado and it tore everything apart. The tornado brought back up the butt of the plane
The next morning, using his hatchet, Brian broke into the plane and retrieved a survival backpack. Inside of it was a radio transmitter and other things. Brian repeatedly flipped the switch on the radio transmitter but it didn't seem to work. He put it away and ate some food from the backpack.
Almost immediately after messing with the radio transmitter, a plane landed near Brian's shelter. A man hopped out and recognized that Brian was the kid they had quit looking for almost two months ago. The pilot rescued Brian back to civilization. When the pilot rescued Brian, he had been alone in the wild for fifty-four days. During that time he had lost seventeen percent of his body weight. The press made much of Brian, but the furor died within a few months. The experience of being out in the wilderness changed Brian's life forever.
