- Darry, Ponyboy's older brother, slaps Ponyboy in the face after ponyboy fell asleep at the lot with Johnny. Ponyboy runs back to Johnny so that they can run away together.
- Ponyboy... Pony, I didn't mean to.
- Ponyboy tells Johnny that they are going to run away to the country, but only end up going to the park.
- Come on Jonny, were running away to the country.
- Ponyboy and Johnny run to the park, and end up running into the Socs.
- The Socs, who live on the west side, drove to the east side looking for the Greasers who had picked up their girls earlier.
- What are the Socs doing this far east? This is our territory.
- *Car noises*
- A Soc named Bob exits his car and walks over to the two boys. He tells Ponyboy that he could use a bath, and is going to give him one..
- You could use a bath, Greaser, and a good working over too. We've got all night to do it
- Bob pushes Ponyboy's head into the fountain. Johnny grabs the switch blade from his back pocket to go save his drowning friend.
- Don't worry Ponyboy, I'm coming.
- *Tries to drown Ponyboy*
