Jonah and the Whale Part 3

- The people of Nineveh believed God's message, and the king declared a fast. The people dressed in burlap to show their sorrow. God spared the city of Nineveh.
- Jonah was angry with God, saying:
- I knew you were a merciful God, eager to turn away from destroying people!
- God replied:
- Is it right for you to be angry?
- Jonah went to the east side of the city. God arranged for a leafy plant to grow. Jonah was greatful for the plant for shading him from the scorcing sun.
- But God also arranged for a worm to eat the plant. By morning, the plant had withered away,
- God sent an east wind on Jonah. This made Jonah miserable, and wish to die.
- You feel sorry about the plant, but not sorry about a city with 120,000 and many animals being destroyed?
- Is it right for you to be angry that the plant has died.
- God asked Jonah:
- Yes. Even angry enough to die!
