Treaty of Brest-Litovask
(April 16, 1917)During WWI, the central powers wanted to make the Russian government, even more, weaker so that they could focus more on the western front. They had hoped that they could get Lenin back into Russia after being exiled so he could distract Russia by causing a revolution.
(October 25, 1917)Successfully, Lenin lead a revolution and proclaimed the country a Bolshevik state, where he went into power. Trotsky's troops had also seized most of Petrograd which influenced Lenin.
(March 3, 1918)The Bolsheviks and Germans signed a treaty agreeing to not fight anymore. Russia was very unstable and Germany needed to focus on the Western Front so this treaty was very helpful on both ends.
