Joseph and Terrance are playing catch at their neighborhood park enjoying the wonderful day ahead of them.
Since Joseph knows he is 9ft away from the tree looking at a 44 degree angle he is trying to find the height of the ball which is the opposite side. He used tan 44 = x/9X = 8.7
Unfortunately, Joseph was not thinking trigonometrically while throwing the ball and it ended up in the tree.
Now that Joseph and Terrance have retrieved the ball he needs to know the angle to throw at so that the ball doesn't get stuck in the tree again.
Joseph knows that the hypotenuse is 14ft and the height of the ball from his hand is 3ft so he uses sin -1 = 3/14. The angle that John should throw the ball at is 12.4 degrees.
Willy is playing with his dog Buck in the park.
Buck needs to know the distance the ball is away from him knowing thehypotenuseis 6ft and he's looking at an angle of 35 degrees. Buck uses cos 35 = x/6Buck finds out that the ball is 4.9 feet away from him.
