- Mesopotamian had cities that had there own government and laws. The people that ruled over the city states were kings and priests.
- 3000 BCE
- The assembly would elect a military leader when the cities would go to war. The military leaders would often stay in power even after the war had ended.
- The first emperor of Mesopotamian was Sargon and he untied all of the city states
- 2300 BCE
- 1800 BCE
- The golden age of Babylon
