- After annoying the Mexican government with a lot of angry letters, the government finally decided to cancel Edwards land grant. This made him very, very angry.

- In November, some followers of Edwards took Norris and Edwards and charged them with crimes, and then they replaced Norris with a new mayor. These rebels had no legal permission
- When the government learned about this, they sent troops to Nacogdoches.
