Romulus and Remus were born to a princess named Rhea Silvia and Mars, the Roman god of war. The king feared that one day they would take his throne, so he sent them out in a basket on the Triber river.
Founding a City

A she-wolf found the twins, and protected them from the other animals. One day, a sheperd saw the boys and decided to take them home. The Shepherd raised the twins and treated them like his sons.
Remus Is Killed
Romulus and Remus grew up to be natural leaders, but one day, Remus was captured and brought to the king, the king recognized him, and Romulus and the sheperds decided they had to get him back. They killed the king, and the townspeople asked them to be King, but they said no.
Rome is Founded
Romulus and remus settled on what is modern day Rome. The twins both liked the general area of the spot they found, but the disagreed on which hill to put the city on, so they waited for a sign from the gods.
Romulus started building a wall around Pallentie Hill, Remus got jealous and started teasing Romulus for it. Remus jumped over his wall to show how easy it was, and Romulus got mad and killed him.
When Remus died, Romulus began to make his city. He named the city Rome after himself, and it was the most powerful city for 1,000 years.
