Throughout the tour Auggie realizes that Jack is the nicest out of the three.

Hi August! I'm Mr. Tushman, the principal of Beecher Prep. This is Jillian, Charlotte, and Jack Will. They will give you a tour of the school.

While Auggie is at school, people stare and gossip about him. However, he ignores them, and gets close with Jack.

Oh my god...

Just ignore them. Do you wanna hang out today?

Sure!

Eventually, Jack and Auggie become best friends. However, on Halloween Auggie overhears Jack and Jillian talking about him.. 

Why do you even hang with him dude?

It's only because Mr. Tushman told me too. Ugh, I would kill myself if I looked like Auggie!

I thought we were friends...

After hearing what Jack says, Auggie is so devastated, he doesn't go to school for a few days. Once he does return, he ignores Jack.

I can't believe it. No one in school will ever be my friend. I will never have a good school life, all because of my face.

I shouldn't have said those things. Auggie is my only true friend. I have to talk to him.

After Jack figures out why Auggie is mad, he regrets it. He realizes that he only said those things to fit in, but Auggie was his true friend, and he didn't want to lose him.
