Climax
As Roger tries to steal from Mrs. Jones, he falls down. Mrs. Jones confronts him about stealing and he lies.
Falling Action
I have done things, too, which I would not tell you, son—neither tell God, if he didn’t already know.
Mrs. Jones asks Roger if he will run if she turns him loose. When he replies with a yes, she tells him she won't turn him loose, and instead tells him to come with her.
Resolution
Here, take this ten dollars. And next time, do not make the mistake of latching onto my pocketbook nor nobody else’s.
Mrs. Jones takes Roger to her house and orders him to wash his face.
Let the water run until it gets warm. Here’s a clean towel.
To Roger's understanding, he learns that Mrs. Jones has also made mistakes in her life, as they eat Mrs. Jones' ten-cent cake.
After Mrs. Jones tells Roger to not steal anymore, she hands him $10, to which he replies with, Thank you m'am.
Thank you, m'am.
