Robe-spierre, one of the key figures of the Revolution, had been exe-cuted, and the Bastille, a symbol of royal tyranny, had been stormed. Napoleon capitalized on this, eventually seizing control through a coup d'état and establishing himself as the ruler of France, marking the end of the revolutionary era.
