- In the morning, Raju's father was watching the news when Raju joined him. The weather was being telecasted and the reporter was talking about the rising levels of air pollution and recommended everyone to wear a mask. Raju was confused and asked his father why they needed to wear a mask.
- Due to irresponsible actions of people , toxic gases have polluted the earth's atmosphere. If a lot of this air gets inside our body, we can get terribly sick. Hence, we need to wear masks to prevent the toxic gases from entering our bodies. Your grandfather also has asthma and he sometimes has trouble breathing.
- His father explained...
- So, is there no way to end air pollution?
- And to reduce air pollution they will have to adjust to the new developments. For example if someone has a car that runs on petrol. They will either have to reduce the usage of that car or buy one that runs on electricity. And it will take time for them to get adjusted with the new car.
- There is, but not many people are willing to take the steps to reduce air pollution. Because people will have to change certain habits in their life which they are very comfortable with right now.
- But these people should understand that their cooperation could help in the betterment of the world.
- Yah, there are many campaigns that help people understand the importance of making the world a better place. They make people plant trees which help in cleaning the air.
- Of course, I want to do everything I can to help make the world a better place.
- Actually, that reminds me there is a tree planting campaign coming up next week. Do you want to go?
- Father, we are being taught about the SDGs at school. And I think if we fight against air pollution that will help us achive- SDG-3: Good health and well being.SDG-13: Climate actionSDG-15:Life on Land.
- Actually the air in the atmosphere dissolves into the water bodies. And polluted air harms the sea animals. So if the air is cleaned then it will also help us getting a step closer in achievingSDG- 14: Life below Water
