- This is because, rice does not acquire the requirements it needs to thrive in Rajasthan compared to rice crops in places like Kerala.
- In a village in Rajasthan in India, there was a farmer named Halku. He was a poor farmer who was burdened by his poverty due to his unsuccessful harvests each year.
- RAINFALL: Rainfall of 50- 75cm.
- TEMPERATURE: Requires 20 degrees celsius, moderate temperature. It cannot survive in frost.

- Halku was unclear as to why his rice cultivation was not as successful as the harvest of the farmers in Kerala. His wife, Munni, informed him of a meeting for the farmers of the village held to give tips about harvest related issues.
- When he inquired as to why his harvests failed every year, the lady informed him that it was because of the type of crop he was growing. She educated him in the different types of crops and their needs.
- The lady educated him about the different factors affecting the cultivation of maize and how Rajasthan can meet up to it's necessaries.
- Halku and Jabra went to the mango grove next to his field and built a fire to keep themselves warm.
- Jabra started barking, indicating that some wild animals were destroying the fields. But, Halku was too comfortable so he did not bother getting up.
