Today i'm going to be explaining endosymbiotic theory. This theory is one that helps explain our origins, and the origins of many other organisms that now roam Earth
Long ago, it is believed that the parts of cells, such as mitochondria, and chloroplasts were actually living on their own, just like this circle and oval
The theory then states that one of the prokaryotes ate the other one so to speak, and formed the first eukaryotic cell.
Then, the cells "ate" more prokaryotic cells, until they eventually had complex systems where the cell relied on it's newfound organelles
There is actually a great deal of evidence for this theory present in cells today. This includes the fact that cells cannot remake lost organelles if they are damaged, the dna between the organelles and the cell is circular, and the fact that mitochondria have the ability to create more by themselves
All in all, endosymbiotic theory is one of the most important links to our genetic past, and helps us know more about origins of life on Earth
