Year 1836, Micheal Faraday is asked for an interview by a local news paper. They meet at a local cafe and order coffee, The interview now begins
Greetings Mr. Faraday, I would like ask a few questions about your latest invention, The Faraday Cage
Faraday cages distribute charges around their exterior
So, How exactly does your device operate
and what is the use of this enclosure?
Pleased to meet you! The Faraday cage or the Faraday shield is an enclosure used to block electromagnetic fields.
well, the shield cannot block stable or slowly varying magnetic fields, such as the earth's magnetic field.
Are there any known weaknesses of the device?
I observed that excess charge on a charged conductor resided only on its exterior and had no influence on anything enclosed within it. To demonstrate it i built a room and coated it with metal foil and allowed high voltage discharges from an electrostatic generator to strike the outside of the room. With the help of an electroscope i found that there was no electric charge present on the inside of the room
For the last question i would like to ask, What inspired you to make this
The interview ends and the reporter and Mr. Faraday leave the coffee shop
It is used to protect sensitive electronic equipment from external radio frequency interference. They are also used to protect people and equipment against actual electric currents such as lightning and electrostatic discharges.
It was my pleasure to share information about my invention with you!
Thank you for you valuable time and knowledge Mr. Faraday!
