In response to the rebellion, George Washington gathered 15,000 militia and successfully suppressed the farmers. This showed how much power the government had gained under the new Constitution. Many people had controversial opinions on this power. Mostly, Federalists were happy at the new power and the success of the Constitution. On the other hand, Anti-federalists worried about the government having too much power now.
Shay’s Rebellion can be known a the event that caused the new Constitution to be written. This was a rebellion of veterans from the Revolutionary War led by Daniel Shays, a veteran himself. They were rebelling against a tax imposed on them by the states. The reason they were getting taxed was so the government could get the funds necessary to pay the veteran’s compensation. Since the government could not raise money (or tax), they needed the States to tax for them, inevitably taxing the Veterans themselves. The veterans were losing so much money that they rebelled, and yet again the government’s weakness was shown, for they could not stop them under the Articles pf Confederation. In fact, the rebellion caused the courts to be shut down. This showed just how much power the government lacked under the Articles of Confederation. It was clear there needed to be a change.
Hello, my name is John G. Roberts, and I am the Chief Justice on the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court along with other (lower) courts make up the Judicial Branch of government. There are a total of nine judges on the Supreme Court. These members are all elected by the President and can serve for life. The main power of the Judicial Branch is to decide whether laws passed by the Legislative Branch and actions of the Executive Branch are unconstitutional.

Hello, my name is Montesquieu. I believed that there should be a separation of powers in government (Executive, Legislative, Judicial). I also believed that there needed to be checks and balances on all of the branches to keep equal powers.
