- The old lady took the children by the hand at walked inside the house. She gave them some food and made two beds for them to sleep in. “Now I have them and they will not be getting away again,” the witch said.
- The old lady turned out to be an evil witch and snatched hansel, sticking him into a cage. Gretel was then forced to wake up early, fetch pails of water, and cook food to fatten her brother up so that the witch could eat him.
- The witch was getting impatient,“Even if you are not fat, I am still going to eat you the witch said to Hansel.” Gretel was forced to go fetch a pail of water so that the witch could get her brother. The witch lit the oven and told Gertel to get inside to test if it was hot enough. “I can’t fit,” Gretel said.“Sure you can watch” the witch stuck her head into the oven. Gretel then pushed her in closing the oven and securing it with a bar.
- Gretel rushed to free Hansel. Once they were free they headed to the door, but before they got there they noticed a whole bunch of jewels on the ground. They stuffed their pockets and then rushed out of the door. They ran through the forest and came across a river. Duckling, Duckling,Here stand Gretel and HanselNeither a walkway nor a bridge,Take us onto your white back.
- After crossing the river they continued through the forest until they found their cottage. Both Hansel and Gretel burst through the door, to see their father standing there in shock. “I missed you guys so much,” he said. Hansel and Gretel aftering finding out their stepmother passed away were joyful and emptied out their pockets, scattering jewels and pearls everywhere.
