- In 1587, John White and 117 colonists set up a colony at Roanoke island.
- Before John White left to gather more supplies...
- Be sure to carve the location you are going into a tree and put a cross if you are in danger, I shall return in 6-8 months. Farewell!

- We must leave and go to Croatoan in order to survive, our friends there will surely help. We shall carve croatoan into a tree and put NO cross.
- When the colonists arrive in Croatoan they are greeted by and interpreter named Manteo. They then head to the shore to explain that they had to abandon Roanoke island due to the drought and food shortage.

- Meanwhile, on Roanoke island there is a massive hurricane that destroyed their homes and fort, moving soil and causing floods.

- John White returns 3 years later to find their fort destroyed. and no cross on a tree but they did carve a clue so he would know their destination.
