Text z Príbehu

  • At that moment, I had a difficult time deciding whether I should be participating in this invitational event, or not. The pressure was surely exhilarating because, if I did actually compete in this national Taekwondo poomsae competition, and, if I did not win, I would let my family, coaches, and my team down. However, I would get to experience competing with the nation having these astonishing amazing competitive athletes.
  • After I had made up my mind to participate in this tournament, I was not going to give up very easily, and I had decided to train to the last moment because I wanted to be completely ready to show up at the competition ring. We had arrived at The Alamo Dome Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas. I had went to pick up my credentials a day prior to my competition day with my family members.
  • I had wanted to practice with my team soon because I had felt that I would need to get the feeling that I was supposed to have in competition mode. This would mean that I would have to treat this practice to be serious in the correct mindset. However, I was totally unprepared to be able to do the unexpected.
  • The poomsae practice had took up almost the entire day, and I was very heavily exhausted by the travel to get to the convention center, the mental, and physical process in getting into the competition, and the grueling training part itself. Even though it felt like I was about to give up, I had kept on reminding myself that I was there because I had a reason. This gave me the persistence to urge myself forward because I had wanted to reach my desired goal.
  • The day had finally come, and I was about to go on the ring. I could feel butterflies fluttering inside me like it was controlling my nervous feelings, and it was an extremely nerve wracking experience to me. Once my division was called to the holding area to wait, I had started to see the other athletes that were competing with me show up in my division, and I had to tell myself that I was just going to focus on myself, and I would not worry about anything that they are doing. It is just a distraction, and they cannot control the things that I would do because I could choose my own decisions.
  • After I had finally reached back to my own house, and, when I had gotten some time to really settle down, I had felt that I had needed to reflect on this experience. I had realized that winning is not everything. Additionally, even though I had received a bronze medal, I am still proud to represent my division in my country being a bronze medalist, and there are many things that I would be grateful towards like my family, coaches, and team that have been really supportive throughout the tough times.
