Hi Josh! How do you multiply and divide fractions? I didn't understand the lesson.
That's ok! Let's have an example
Ok when we multiply fractions, first we have to multiply the numerators then multiply the denominator and simplify the answer if needed.
Ok. But I don't get it.
1/4 x 2/3 = 1 x 2 4 x 31 x 2 = 24 x 3 = 12Answer: 2/12
Oh wow! I already get it now. How about dividing fractions?
Here's an example.
First, we invert the fraction that you are dividing by, next we multiply the numerators and denominators. And then, we multiply by the reciprocal of the divisor. Last, we simplify the answer if needed.
Oh okay. But I'm still confused.
Ok.
4/5 ÷ 2/3 = 4/5 x 2/3 4/5 x 3/2 = 12/10Answer: 12/10 or 1 1/5
Oh! Now I get it. Thank you so much!
You're welcome! Just feel free to ask me.
Ok. Thank you very much again Josh!
