- BATTLE OF PAMPLONA 20 May 1521 - Before Ignatius became a priest he was a soldier. His last battle was in Pamplona against the French where his left leg was shattered and his right broken by a cannonball. The French so admired the spirit, courage and bravery of Ignatius that they carried him off the battlefield to care for him. His surgery and recovery took place at his home in Loyola. it is also when he began to spend more time reading about Jesus and the Saints.
- UNIVERSITY OF PARIS 2 February 1528 - 1535 Ignatius went to university in Paris at the age of 38, where he studied Latin, philosophy, and theology. This is where he met Peter Faber, Francis Xavier whom he lived. With these men and others, they formed Friends in the Lord, Ignatius started a plan to get to the Holy Land. He graduated with a Masters degree in Arts.
- ROME 1540 - The Friends in the Lord went to Rome to meet Pope Paul III because no ships could sail to the Holy Land due to the Ottoman-Venetian War. The Pope approved the formation of the Society Of Jesus. Ignatius was nominated as Superior General, even though he thought he wasn't the most worthy. He was their leader until he died 16 years later. During this time he wrote the Constitutions and 7,000 letters to companions and others.
