- "What'd he do in Weed?" Slim asked calmly.
- Slim ask George about what happened in Weed.
- "Well, he seen this girl in a red dress. Dumb bastard like he is, he wants to touch every 'thing he likes. Just wants to feel it."
- George tells him everything that had, happened.
- "I told you you couldn't bring that pup in here."
- "What pup, George? I ain't got no pup."
- Lennie walks directly to his bed and, George notices something.
- "He ain't mean," said Slim. "I can tell a mean guy a mile off."
- Slim tells George how he feels about Lennie.
- "Hi, Lennie," Said George. "How do you like the pups."
- Lennie cam through the door, and George asks Lennie about the pups.
- Lennie said breathlessly, " He's brown an' white jus' like I wanted"
- "You get right up and take this pup back to the nest. "
- "Give 'um to me, George. I'll take 'um back."
- George makes Lennie put the pup back to the nest.
