- Once Odysseus gets home his wife, Penelope doesn't believe it. Penelope believes that the gods are playing tricks on her and its not Odysseus. She decides to test Odysseus, and asks her maid, Eurycleia to move the bed outside.
- Eurycleia the maid wasn't able to push the bed out. Of course both Penelope and Odysseus knew that. This had made Odysseus angry, he had crafted the bed himself and them two were the only ones to know why she couldn't move the bed
- Odysseus continues to explain that no one but God would be able to move the bed. The reason why no one would be able to move the bed was because the bed was made out of a strong olive tree. Odysseus explains that he made the whole bridal chamber himself.
- This made Penelope Very happy he was able to tell the secrete they both shared. She then burst into tears, ran straight to him, and gave him a hug. Penelope then stated explaining of how happy she is.
- This deeply moved Odysseus it also seemed to move him to tears. They were both very happy. It continued to be like this until dawn. when finally Odysseus told Penelope of his travels.
- Odysseus later explained how his journey is not ending yet. He said that he was going to go visit the woodlands and the farm to see his father. He warns her to be careful because people will soon hear about the people he has killed. He tells her to stay home and to see no one.
