PROPHASE 1
Oh no the CHROMATIN has CONDENSED! I'm so sad I could BREAKDOWN!
Chromosome... I think we should be a Homologous Pair
(Crossing over...)
Think the cat is wrapping around the dog!
MEOW!
WOOF!
METAPHASE 1
We're now attached along the equator of spindle!
-Chromatin condense & chromosome supercoils-Nuclear Envelope breaks down-Chromosomes come together in homologous pairs
ANAPHASE 1
Why did the motor protein have to pull us apart...
-CROSSING OVER occurs when NON-SISTER chromatids WRAP AROUND eachother & may SWAP SECTIONS so ALLELES SHUFFLE
TELOPHASE 1
-Homologous chromosomes attach along equator of spindle by centromere (way they line up determines how they'll segregate independently when pulled apart in Anaphase)
REMEMBER TAMZIN:
Remember that this is the first stage of Meiosis: MEIOTIC DIVISION!
-Members of homologous chromosomes pulled apart by motor proteins(cross over areas separate from eachother= swapped areas of chromosome & allele shuffling)
-EACH NEW NUCLEUS CONTAINS HALF ORIGINAL NUMBER OF CHROMOSOMES!
Hi, I'm NUCLEUS! I'm the NEW addition to my family. I'm like HALF my mum & HALF my dad
Remember the definition:HOMOLOGOUS CHROMOSOMES- matching chromosomes containing same genes at same places
