- The Boston Port Act1774Britain punished the colonists by closing down Boston's port until the East India Company and Britain were paid for their losses.

- The British Parliament wanted to show that they had control over the colonists. This plan backfired when the colonies allies brought goods to the colonists. War between the two was on the horizon.
