Ikemefuna gets close to Okonkwo and his family, especially his son Nwoye, but then the priest orders for Ikemefuna to be killed Okonkwo took part in it, even though a elder told him not to
Later on, at Ezeudu's funeral, the men are firing off their guns but when Okonkwo fires his it explodes, accidentally killing the son of Ezeudu, leaving Okonkwo and his family to be exiled for 7 years, so they went to his mothers village
As they get settled in Okonkwo's friend comes to tell him how the white men destroyed another clan, missionaries arrived to build churches so people could attend. Nwoye also leaves his father to join the missionaries, which didn't surprise okonkwo
