- Well, the letter delivered to your uncle from Manilus, the leader of the soldiers, contained poisonous ink. I would say the Protector's messenger, Volturcius, was responsible for his death.
- After Aulus' Uncle is murdered, he and the family slave, homer, travel to Rome to try find out who was responsible for his death while also doing their best to prevent a war. On the way, Homer shares his suspicions with Aulus.
- Aulus decided to travel to the protector's house (Cicero) and explain the situation to him. Cicero then mentioned Cateline, a great enemy of Aulus' uncle that desired to rule ancient Rome.
- A while after they left, Homer reveals to Aulus that he had kidnapped the Philosopher to get answers from him knowing he worked for Volturcius. they soon found out how to enter Volturcius' house without being spotted.
- That night, Aulus sneaked into Volturcius' house and found himself in an office. There, he found the same blue poison used to kill his uncle.
- Aulus soon realizes that below him, a senate meeting is taking place. He then hears a voice he took to be Cataline, addressing his men. It is planned that Catiline’s people will go and pretend to consult Cicero on affairs of state, before ending his days and introducing a new ruler of Rome.
- After hearing that, Aulus ran to Cicero's house. There, he was met by the guards and Tulia, Cicero's daughter. he explained to them what was about to happen, and they soon were ready to fight. Not long after, the doorbell rang. outside was a baker wanting to deliver some bread, Nothing seemed wrong until he was jabbed in the neck by a knife. The baker fell to the ground revealing a gladiator behind him, axe at the ready.
