- David lived in a concentration camp in Eastern Europe in the 1900s. He hated living in the dirty camp. They treated him very badly and worst of all separated him from his mom.

- David missed his mom and wanted to go find her.One night David came up with a plan to crawl under the barbed-wire fence to escape. The angry guards chanced him.
- When David came across a house, he knocked on the door hoping to find someone to help him. Carlo and his family agreed to let him stay with them. He was afraid to tell them he just escaped.
- David stayed with Carlo’s family for a couple years. Although he got along with Carlo’s family he missed his own family and decides to go and look for his mom.
- David did not know the Carlo’s dog is following him.
- The dog was urging David to run away. The dog went after the soldiers. David upset because of dog is shot and dies.
- David went back to the house he was taken from and found his mom there. She was surprised to see he had escaped and was safe. They were so happy to be together again.
