- Allow me to share the experiences we went through before I achieved this historical victory against the dictatorship's rule.

- The fortitude and faith he shown through his death, however, were the only means by which my nation was able to rise again and achieve freedom.
- I left America in mourning three years ago to bury Ninoy Aquino, my husband. To put an end to his nagging dream of Philippine freedom, I believed I had also left it behind.
- I'm back in office today, leading a free people.
- Thus started the movement that eventually led me to the Congress of the United States, the most historic home of democracy.
- A whole nation paid tribute to Ninoy by burying him, a heroic and unselfish deed that brought credit to a country that was ashamed of itself.
- I am now responsible for continuing to provide our people with the democratic alternative.
