- I am Jose Protasio rizal Mercado y Alonson Realonda was born in Calamba Laguna in 1877, at Ateneo Manicipal de Manila, I graduated at the age of 16 with the highest honors, In 1878, I enrolled at University of Santo Tomas as a medical student then later quit at school, alleging discrimination against Filipino students by the Dominican professors.

In June 1884, I received my medical degree at the age of 23, the following year, I graduated from the philosophy and letters department. Inspired by my mother ‘s advancing blindness, I went to the University of Paris and then to the University of Heidelberg for further study in ophthalmology and finished .
