- The setting was in Baltimore Maryland in 1834. The characters were Frederick Douglass, John, Henry and mr.Freeland. The conflict is Frederick Douglass v.s slavery.Douglass was a slave for his whole life he went from plantations to plantations he lived in some bad working conditions and he wanted to escape up north to canada so he can be free and live his life with out being told when to wake up and would not get beat for no reason.
- Frederick Douglass gets sold to mr. Freeland in maryland and there he meets John and Henry two other slaves and on the first day they make a plan to escape on a coono in the middle of the night so they won't get caught and if they got caught they would be sent down south where a lot of slaves were held but they did not know who was going to escape if they make it they would go to canada where there is no slavery.
- After Fredrick meets John and Henry they make an escape plan to get a cnoono to get out of there. So they all won't have to deal with another couple of years with slavery.when they got called up eveyone got rid of they paper but one person so they had to eat it befor they got there and they all said no one say anything because they want to escape .
